“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world" ( John 16:33)
Cheer has been defined as a "shout for joy or in praise or encouragement"! Cheer is often associated with something exciting and motivating, inspiring and firing one especially through even odd circumstances.
Now, whenever someone is going through a bad patch it might be unrealistic to expect them to be cheerful. On occasions there are winds which blow our way. and can leave one down. How should a believer respond! When David was passing through a bad patch, he, for one cried out "Your love, Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies. Your righteousness is like the highest mountains, your justice like the great deep. You, Lord, preserve both people and animals
David decided to look up to the Lord to cheer him up through a difficult stretch. Elsewhere he sung, "I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God" ( Psalm 40:1-3).
Today, where you feel down, choose to be cheerful whatever the circumstances, by looking up to the Lord to lift you up!
Prayer today: Lord Father God of Abraham, maker of heaven and earth, today I pray that your spirit may cheer me with joy, looking up to you to lift me up even when low, this I pray in Jesus name!
