God of Vision

“Then the Lord answered me and said: ‘Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it.’” (Habakkuk 2:2)

Nehemiah was a man of vision. After hearing that the walls of Jerusalem had been broken down and its gates burned with fire, he immediately recognized that the city’s defenses could be restored and its walls rebuilt. Rather than merely lamenting the situation, he prayed and sought God’s favor before asking the king to send him back to Judah to undertake the task.
Despite fierce opposition, Nehemiah remained determined. Through faith, perseverance, and diligent leadership, the walls of Jerusalem were rebuilt. Scripture records: “When all our enemies heard about this, all the surrounding nations were afraid and lost their self-confidence, because they realized that this work had been done with the help of our God” (Nehemiah 6:16).

God had given Nehemiah a vision, and instead of merely sitting on it, he acted upon it. Brick by brick, the fallen walls of Jerusalem were restored. Even when opposition arose, he persevered. As he testified, “They were all trying to frighten us, thinking, ‘Their hands will get too weak for the work, and it will not be completed.’ But I prayed, ‘Now strengthen my hands’” (Nehemiah 6:9). The Lord answered that prayer by providing Nehemiah with the resources, wisdom, and companions he needed to accomplish the task.

God gives His people visions so that they may move beyond their present circumstances and improve their well being. It does not matter how difficult the situation may appear or how impossible the vision may seem. An aging Abraham and his wife Sarah were childless when God led Abraham outside and said, “Look up at the sky and count the stars—if indeed you can count them. So shall your offspring be” (Genesis 15:5). What seemed impossible became reality because God’s vision never fails.

Scripture declares, “Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he” (Proverbs 29:18 KJV). Visions have the power to transform ordinary circumstances into extraordinary realities. And God has given everyone a vision. The vision God has plantrd in your heart may begin as a burden to serve your community, a calling to start a business, a desire for higher education, a dream of owning a family home, or a purpose far greater than yourself. Believe in it.

As we see in Nehemiah’s life, circumstances may appear unfavorable, and opposition may arise along the way. Yet if God has planted a vision in your heart, never abandon it. What God initiates, He also sustains, and in His perfect timing, He brings it to fulfillment.

Prayer
Lord Almighty Father, I thank You for the vision You have planted in my heart to build something that glorifies You. Help me not to be distracted by my circumstances or overcome by doubt. When I face opposition, whether personal, spiritual, or material, may I look to You for strength and guidance. Just as You strengthened Nehemiah and enabled him to complete the work You had given him, strengthen my hands and grant me victory
In Jesus’ name I pray.
