“Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” ( John 14:6).

Those who passed through the troubled days of Uganda’s violent history recall the scare of roadblocks. As government troops chased guerrilas they would mount roadblocks to ambush such. Chancing upon one was a hellish experience. In fact, if you knew ahead, most would seek out an alternative route freed of those terrible roadblocks. The fear was a roadblock denied one of free access to his destiny.

When Christ came here on earth and died for our sins, he paved free access to the throne of the Almighty God. Previously they had stood roadblocks. Largely it was through the law of Moses where access to God was limited to works. But as the Apostle Paul explained, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast”         ( Ephesians 2:8-9). Christ paved the way for all us through his sacrificial death on the cross to receive eternal life. “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand” ( Romans 5:1-2).

Back then if you were traveling and knew the road was manned by roadblocks at certain points you might think of abandoning the journey, unless if there was an emergency. A roadblock would fill you with all kinds of nightmares. But the removal of roadblocks with the coming of peace was the opposite. It now meant you could move to your destiny free and unhindered.

And this is our privilege as believers in Christ. Through Jesus we have that free acess to the throne of God. Where the enemy tries to throw any roadblocks, these are all no more, because Christ has made the way!

Prayer today: Lord Father God of Abraham, maker of heaven and earth, through Christ the way has been paved for us to reach your throne of grace, and so I pray to come to you with all my needs, knowing the way has been made clear, this I pray in Jesus’ name!
