“The LORD replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” - Exodus 33:14 (NIV)

The life we live as Christians can sometimes be so hectic and wracked with trials that our faith can become stretched and weary.  The Lord Jesus often alerted his disciples to difficult days ahead, "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).

Many lives of Christians have been interrupted with series of difficulties from financial storms, family challenges to interpersonal misunderstands that can live any weary and on the edge. Yet much as we experience trials it is helpful and hopeful for believers to remember what the Apostle Paul reminded us- our faith in Jesus Christ will one day be rewarded with rest from all the trials. 11 Thessalonians 1:7 says, “And God will provide rest for you who are being persecuted and also for us when the Lord Jesus appears from heaven.”  There will be a moment and day of a great reward for all who believed in Jesus and persevered to the end: “Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing” (2 Timothy 4:8).

In the midst of trials and persecutions, it is indeed comforting that it will not all end in vain, but there will be a day of rest. “I will feed My flock and I will lead them to rest,” declares the Lord God” (Ezekiel 34:15).

Prayer for Today: Lord Father God of Abraham, creator of heaven and earth, through all life’s trials, what a comforting and blessing it is to know that there will be a day and time of eternal rest and reward with you!
