"Be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for the Lord" - Psalm 27:14 (NIV).

A long time ago there used to be bus stands all over any important road aiming towards Kampala city. If you wanted to hitch a ride to town all you needed was to go to a bus stand and wait. And just as expected a bus (some double decker) would pull along and stop. You would then jump on and take a comfortable seat on to your destination.

In the Christian life there comes a moment of waiting too, for that means to take you towards your destination. To wait means you are quite clear where you want to go, just as any passenger does at a bus stand. Sometimes there might be a temporary delay but when systems are functioning one's waiting is not in vain. Surely the ride you wanted soon beckons in good time.

As a believer you may find yourself too doing no other but waiting on God too. For the Psalmist says, "I wait for the Lord, my soul does wait, And in His word do I hope" (Psalm 130:5).

There could be a matter long in coming, and your situation is such that you pause there at that stand of life and wait. A person who waits has hope that his ride will come along no matter what. King David is someone who knew about waiting for he wrote, "I waited patiently for the LORD to help me, and he turned to me and heard my cry" (Psalm 40:1).

And this is all because, "God never fails anyone. It is he who called you to belong to his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord" (I Cor 9:1).

Prayer for today: Lord Father God of Abraham, maker of heaven and earth, I pause here to wait on you, knowing you are a God who never fails, and in good time you will come by and take me to that destination, this I pray in Jesus's name.
