"Jesus replied, “What is impossible with man is possible with God" - Luke 18:27 (NIV).

Going into a gruelling interview can be a cause for serious worry over how it would go. Suppose you meet there some guy who takes on a sudden animosity towards you. No matter the answers you give to a battalion of questions, he presses on, till he lands you in a trap. Voila, as they say, and you are done. What was supposed to be your job, sliced for someone else.

These situations happen every day, where any of us could march into an unsympathetic army. Before we have even a moment to introduce ourselves there flies a volley of shots to bring us down. Maybe it is the way we look that reminds our sudden nemesis of something to release all the venom. It could be that we are making our entrance on a bad day and we just happen to be a convenient target. At any rate before we utter anything we are roasted and packed off.

Once there was a situation. A certain young Queen needed a favour from her King. This was no ordinary request she was about to make as there was a plot to massacre all her people. According to custom no one was allowed to go and talk to the King univited. This was going to be one challenging mission and favour was needed.

To have her way, Queen Esther, advised, "Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my attendants will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish" (Esther 4: 16).

Having prepared herself she marshaled courage and waded into the King's territory. Look at what happened. Once the king saw her before she had even uttered her request, he smiled, "Then the king asked, “What is it, Queen Esther? What is your request? Even up to half the kingdom, it will be given you" (Esther 5:3).

Of course yours may not be that type of situation but nonetheless you are about to penetrate enemy ground. Taking from this example, how about some time of prayer and fasting, to penetrate the shield of the enemy, by inflicting him with darts of faith and receiving the favour that comes from the Lord!

Prayer for today: Lord Father God of Abraham, maker of heaven and earth, for such a situation that appears impossible I seek your favour that you open the floodgates of blessings for me, this I pray in Jesus's name.
