"Those who work their land will have abundant food, but those who chase fantasies have no sense" - Proverbs 12:11 (NIV).

Perhaps every kid has played the bubble soap game. After mixing water with soap a foam rises bursting into beautiful rainbow bubbles. The kids blow the bubbles off their palms and then chase them. But the bubbles don't last long. Almost instantly they burst and fade away. Of course as this is a game the kid must splash water again with soap for another foam that will bear new bubbles.

Chasing bubbles is what one can equate to going after a fantasy. A fantasy is something imaginary that has the appearance of structure. Except that it is an illusion. Seen from far a fantasy can appear so real only that if you reach it then you are disappointed. Fantasies can be exciting before one realises that they were just a mirage preoccupying one's imagination for nothing.

In life we too can all find ourselves feeding on fantasies. Someone who hates work yet dreams of a life of comfort and pleasure is a fantasy chaser. When you have a nation that misuses it's resources into wasteful other than investing into productive resource but dreams of being highly developed it is a nation of fantasy chasers. If you constantly abuse your body with alcohol, lack of rest and a poor diet yet dream of being the most atheletic bloc around, you are a fantasy chaser.

On the contrary the word of God is cautioning us from living the "pie in the sky " life. We should do the needful: meaning, let us work and live a life of frugality which God will bless through our sweat. And by observing his laws, "The LORD will open the heavens, the storehouse of his bounty, to send rain on your land in season and to bless all the work of your hands. You will lend to many nations but will borrow from none" (Deuteronomy 28:12).

Prayer for today: Lord Father God of Abraham, maker of heaven and earth, today I pray that through work and observing your commands, you may bless the work of my hands, this I pray in Jesus's name.
